Call of Duty Legit Aim Settings

Last updated on Sep 02, 2026

This guide explains what you can and cannot do to cheat safely in Call of Duty. The settings below are the parameters we consider legit and safe. You can adjust them to fit your playstyle, but using values lower than the ones suggested puts you at risk of being banned more quickly.

How bans work in Call of Duty

  1. Reports lead to a manual review (shadowban)

Being reported too many times raises a flag in the anti-cheat and your account is manually reviewed. This is the shadowban. If your gameplay looks too suspicious, your account receives a permanent ban when the shadowban ends. If your gameplay looks legit, the shadowban is lifted after about 7 days and you can play again.

  2. Aggressive settings lead to an AI review

With aggressive settings, a flag is raised at some point and your gameplay is reviewed by AI. If it is deemed too suspicious, your account is permanently banned instantly. There is no shadowban in this case.

Important: A ban caused by how you played is not a detection. A detection means the anti-cheat identifies the cheat as soon as it is injected, which causes mass bans across our entire user base. Before concluding that a ban was caused by a detection, review the settings you used and how you played.

Aimbot settings

The aimbot is the main feature that can lead to a ban, so it must be configured properly.

Aim key

This is the key you hold to activate the aimbot. We recommend two keys.

  • Aim key 1: bind it to LMOUSE (left mouse click). The aimbot then only locks on the enemy the moment you start shooting. This alone looks a lot more legit.
  • Aim key 2: optional. If you play a lot with snipers or shotguns, bind it to a side mouse button (Mouse 1 or Mouse 2). This improves aimbot efficiency for these guns.

Warning: Never bind the aim key to RMOUSE (right mouse). The aimbot would lock on as soon as you scope in, which looks very suspicious when you are spectated.

FOV

The FOV is the area in which the aimbot scans for enemies. It is another very important setting that must be configured properly.

A FOV higher than 40 lets the aimbot act on a bigger area, causing it to snap on random targets or on a target you did not intend to lock. This is a major red flag and will most likely trigger the server-side AI, causing a review and a ban.

  • 40 is a very good size: the aimbot works properly without snapping at random places.
  • 50 is the limit. It still looks good, but you are already risking your safety.

Visibility check

Always keep this option enabled, 100% of the time, so the aimbot never locks on players behind walls. Combined with ESP set to Visible only, this is the strongest setup for cheating in the most legit way possible.

Aimbot smooth

Smooth is the strength of the aimbot lock. It is the setting most people get wrong, and it is easy to understand:

  • Lower value: the aimbot locks faster and harder.
  • Higher value: the aimbot looks more natural and slower.

Important: Smooth X 8 and Smooth Y 8 is not a legit setting, it is semi-rage. Never use the same value on both axes. X and Y must differ from one another so the aimbot curve looks more natural and less robotic.

What we recommend:

  1. Having at least a decent natural aim helps a lot. Relying solely on the aimbot will get you banned very quickly.
  2. Keep both X and Y values above 15. 16 to 20 is the sweet spot: the aimbot still works very well and looks natural.

Tip: If you set Smooth X to 20, always set Smooth Y either 2 values above or 2 values below to make the aimbot curve more legit.

Note: Mouse DPI plays a significant role. With a very low DPI such as 600 or 800, you need to set the smooth very high, otherwise the aimbot sticks to the enemy like glue.

Deadzone

The deadzone is the area of the enemy hitbox in which the aimbot works without locking on one specific spot. Leave it at default or higher. 7.0 is a good value as well: the aimbot still locks well, but without the feeling of an instant lock. It looks more like natural aim where you hit random parts of the enemy hitbox.

Dynamic FOV

One of the best features available. It is the reason the standard FOV is set so low: the Dynamic FOV can then be increased to help in close-range fights. 145 is the sweet spot. It covers the entire enemy hitbox in close-range fights and increases aimbot efficiency.

Recoil compensation

This helps control the recoil of the gun. It is not a no-recoil feature and does not fully remove the recoil. Setting it to the highest value is pointless: the aim pulls down very hard and looks suspicious. We recommend a value between 20 and 40, which controls the recoil very nicely.

Note: Recoil compensation does not work without the aimbot activated, and it only works while shooting at an enemy.

Aimbone

Never set the aimbone to a specific bone part: it would basically nullify the deadzone. Always set it to Nearest, so the aimbot locks on the part closest to your crosshair.

Aim preference

Always set it to 2D. The aimbot then locks on the nearest enemy within your crosshair, which makes it more effective and more legit-looking.

ESP (wallhack)

Many players assume that using only ESP will not get them banned. It will. Nobody can consistently avoid looking at a player behind a wall: it is a reflex, and sooner or later you will do it while being spectated.

Your best option is the Visible only option. It only shows players that are visible to you, which looks extremely legit while still giving you plenty of enemy information.
